Alex Kurunis
Alex Kurunis is a London based portrait and documentary photographer. Born in Greece, raised in England, Alex’s heritage has informed his eye for photography. Having graduated in Social Anthropology (LSE), Alex’s work remains rooted in social documentary and human interaction.
In recent years, Alex has turned his lens toward folkloric customs. From the Bolivian folkloric dance community in London, a Charrería in Mexico City, to Greek Orthodox festivals, his work seeks to show the joy of such practices and why it is important they are preserved and carried forth.
Currently, Alex is working towards his first book publication, which draws from his heritage in the Dodecanese islands of Greece, by means of navigating and expressing his dual identity.
